Hi Sonki: Thanks for the encouraging feedback. Of all the profiles I have looked at, yours stands out as uniquely bullish! Anyone who could have followed your quote mantra in recent years would today look like an investment genius, or as one Chicago trader put it, the best investment advisor in recent years is a parrot sitting on your shoulder who has only learned how to sqwalk one word: Buy, buy, buy, buy, buy...

Although I am a relative newcomer to SI, (can't believe I did'nt get on this sooner), I feel compelled to respond to things when sufficiently provoked by the thoughts and utterances of such a diverse forum.

Your post needs some serious thought before responding, however I am planning to put out a more indepth post on the outlook for '98.

I agree with your ideas on bonds, just because they have rallied strongly in recent weeks, does not necessarily imply that this will go on forever. If anything bonds may be anticipating the worst and if the worst doesn't come and life returns to normal they could become a dangerous investment.

They are also vulnerable to Dollar weakness (and Yen strength) if there is a concerted effort to ease the dollar for a while. Don't forget that huge foreign (Asian) holdings in US Bonds. They have had a triple gain dream run in the last few years. If they are forced to cash in to meet financial shortfalls or somesuch this could have a profound effect on a great many areas of investment.
