Bad trades & good trades.

Sometimes each can work out where you least expect it and a bad trade becomes better while a good trade gets crushed depending upon events.

When you play the high vol positions this can happen very rapidly and profits should be protected by adjusting or losses limited same way IMHO.

Had short calls on TPX & MHK last week and both ran up through the strike TPX 65 MHK 65 and while TPX faded below, will be short MHK on Monday with the only regret that I didn't add a few more when it was printing 68.

Its tough to hedge everything and am using short IWM with short puts and calls against my long positions.

Covered calls in my longer term positions haven't worked out so far as to provide enough protection, but then again I try and enter stocks that I see the potential for turnaround, whether that works or not is up to the market.
