Oops, I guess I'm still in the middle ages, I've still only got 28K, but when I connect to my ISP, I usually get connected at less than 28K, so why should I spend the extra on a 56K modem. Your statement about getting connected below 28K is common. There is a difference, however. The 56K modem will not connect at 56K as we know but it will still connect faster than your 28.8K. You do get speed improvement even if it is 35K compared to 24K with your 28.8K modem. I am not suggesting you throw away your 28.8K but if I was buying a modem now, I would certainly buy a 56K instead of a 28.8K. I am using cable at the moment and gave my son my x2. Glenn
