Hi -- that is a very interesting talk. It helps to shake the listener from the misguided notion that the future will be much like the past -- and it helps to clarify that the future is now. Our US and Euro centered view of the world is no longer adequate. Gold markets are a perfect example -- as are commodity markets. We are entering a period where the decisions of Chinese consumers and the Chinese government are at least as important as what happens in the US economy and Washington. In some markets -- like gold -- we are now already fast becoming marginal players. In the future, we won't matter much in these markets. If we don't learn to adapt to the rise of China -- and do it soon -- we are really going to slip further and faster than anybody seems to realize in terms of standard of living and global influence.

China is not simply 'catching up'. China is redefining the terms of the global economy in which we live.
