EVERY road in America is a SUBSIDY to the oil industry! If you think we should use electric cars, what are they going to use? Government built roads (and not all roads are built by the government, and some that are are toll roads) don't support gasoline powered cars over CNG cars, electric cars with batteries, cars using fuel cells, buses powered however you want them to be powered, etc. But the gasoline powered cars use a fuel that is taxed at both the state and federal levels, and also the drivers of the cars often pay additional taxes directly on the cars. Meanwhile the electric cars don't pay gasoline tax, and receive special tax advantages.
