Nonsense. It was while the government was running GM that they shifted their focus from SUVs and pickups to smaller cars. Which is why they are profitable right now instead of bleeding red ink.

The Cruze, for example, is a fine car in its class. And it sells well. Granted, the development started earlier, but Waggoner was a lot more interested in large vehicles and the Cruze, no doubt would have suffered the same fate as the Cobalt. Waggoner kept pushing back production of the various parts, it only got put on the front burner after Rick left.
