"Obama has faced an (R) party dedicated to keeping the economy down so they can blame it on HIM this election cycle." And that is what is really at the heart of this. Which is why they are freaking out right now. Despite all of their efforts, and they have been Herculean, the economy is slowly recovering. Which is why all of the Republicans who might have a chance are bowing out. Leaving the nuts to run for president.
