CR Lum, > ADPTec has a controller that will do 50X and has a firewire interface upgrade. It doesn't matter now since I don't think above 32x Cd-ROM will be materialized. I don't think manufacturer will waste money on a $150 device which must spin at 10000rpm like the high-end Cheetah UW-SCSI HDD. And not to mention the real-life performance of a 40-50x CD-ROM will similar to a 24x CD-ROM because of the access time bottleneck. The selling point of OTI-912 is its high integration. aC
