<<Forget the north and south. What do you say to this where some Republican Congressmen indicated yesterday that they will not support any aid to the tornado victims if it increases the debt. Any support should come from reduction in spending.

It was Eric cantor of Virgina. And it is more outragous right wing nonsense.

It is this same 30 year chant of lower taxes, lower taxes and it has always worked as people did not want to make the connection between social services and taxes. And they have been doing it successfullly for so long we are in big trouble now.

Our taxes are at a 60 year lows and our defense spending at a post WWII historical high (for no reason except to feed the MIC). The only reason I even mention the south is that it is the home of this extreme right wing thinking.

When you say forget the north and the south, what you are doing is sweeping the specific cause of what has done so much damage to our country under the rug.

And the reason people don't discuss it is for the same reason it makes you uncomfortable discussing it. And so it has gone on for 40 years.

My professor in a class on decision theory always said: :in order to solve a problem, you must first identify the problem e.g. Lee Atwater's southern strategy---it was a real as a heart attack.

It isn't the cultures or legislators of Oregon or Washington, that are causing our country problems.
