It isn't the cultures or legislators of Oregon or Washington, that are causing our country problems.

There is a lot of red outside the South, more than you would like to admit:


Many of the red mountain states are lightly populated and play little role in national politics. Most of the high population red states are in the South and they have a big impact on national politics. Pretending that the South has little influence or that most Republican support is coming from outside of the South is being a bit disingenuous. Anecdotally, it would also appear that most of the more extreme Republican elements are from the South.

Just this week, a promient GA rep told his constituents if they want Medicare to move to Canada, a NC rep told Elizabeth Warren she was a liar in a congressional hearing when in fact, he was the one lying, and a congressman from VA told the nation that Joplin can't get gov't help for its disasters until something else is cut from the federal budget. And these are the more moderate pols from the South.
