You are correct about the rise of creationism & such, but look at the mega-churches of a rightward bent and you will be looking hard at Colorado and California. The point is not to play gotcha but if we want to combat those things it pays to know who we are talking about. When white liberals from blue states, especially those from very white states or who live in very white areas of their states surrounded by liberals, spend their time worrying over simply the Old South, it doesn't accomplish much on a national level, not even on a state or local level. In fact, it seems state and local levels are often neglected with the central focus being only on the national. Creationism wouldn't be getting footholds in schools all over the country, and it is all over, if liberals hadn't neglected running hard for school boards and paying attention to their own yards.

A couple of things.....first off, I am unclear why you're making this a white issue.......I don't see it as a racial issue at all. Its about ideology that transcends color. Secondly, there is no question that there are pockets of conservatives in other parts of the country that share the politics of the South but they don't wield the power they do in the South. Thirdly, your off on your claim that liberals have neglected their school boards. In this country, there are two states that dictate what school books kids read......TX and CA.....and CA is broke so TX is doing all the book ordering, helping to extend its conservative views like requiring women who want to abort to get a mammogram and have its image tattooed on their butts. So okay we can blame liberals in CA for not getting their financial house in shape and letting TX get the edge.

So sorry.......what was I thinking? Its liberal problem after all. Never mind.

And with that I am mindful of Chinu's advice and will drop this subject........its way too divisive and will never get resolved on this forum.
