What do you do when the stock that you just sold to limit loss (to 7-10%) came roaring back and went even higher? How can you be sure the other stock you bought using the remaining capital will outperform? Many tech issues' daily ranges are up and down 10%. Those advisors also want us to be patient and not time the market, but on the other hand, they say sell when the loss is 10%,15%,20% or whatever. It seems to be contradictory . My lesson is: Don't use too much margin and always have 12 months cash reserve no matter how badly you want to average down.
