"But obviously you accept their bogus plans. "

Umm, Tenchu, they are in a better position to evaluate that than I am. Since you feel it is bogus, what are you basing your opinion on? Where are you getting your battery pricing, for example, since you feel they are cheaper than what GM is claiming?

"that are not economically viable at the moment."

Look, I think significant electrics are way ahead of the curve. Battery technology is just barely there. As a result it is expensive. Which backs my point up. Not so much for yours.

"The few that do are the truly successful ones. Which wouldn't include GM, or else they wouldn't need a bailout"

Good point. Because everyone knows that GM was pushing this long before they went BK. If it wasn't for converting much of their line to this technology, they would have been fine...

Are you serious?

"Maybe you can save a few percent here, a few percent there."

Every little bit helps. The biggest cost reduction would be getting the volume up so the batteries get out of the individually, handcrafted category. Which is where they are now.

"Remember their 230 MPG claim?"

Apples and pineapples. They based that claim on some guesses on how the EPA was going to rate them. They were wrong. Not saying their guesses were rational, but it all ultimately depended on how the EPA was going to do things. I think the EPA did a pretty well-thought out job of trying to make the figures comparable.
