>> If that is the event y'all are talking about, it is pretty clear he was talking about Bristol and not Piper.

My recollection is that Piper, not Bristol, was at the ballgame in question. So, the "psychology" that causes it to be interpreted this way is nothing more than pure rationale.

I would give Letterman the benefit of the doubt and say it was an honest mistake, except it is just almost as bad if he WAS referring to Bristol. It is sleazy, anyway you look at it.

>> And he never apologized, now did he?

Actually, he did -- at least as much as Letterman did in the Palin instance. I would argue that neither took full responsibility for his remark, however.

>> They should have given her a pass because she is a conservative.

No, they shouldn't. But they ought to treat her the same way they treat liberal women. Have you ever seen, for example, any Fox News Channel host go after a liberal woman the way Chris Matthews has Palin? The answer is "NO" because it hasn't happened. Matthews goes on about Palin night after night, month after month -- even when she isn't in the news. (He does the same with the great Dick Cheney, of course). Totally unjustly.

It is the liberal way. I wouldn't be associated with that bunch of sleazebags even if I *DID* agree with them about something. Yet, you're in there defending them.
