"""Nothing proto about it. College Marxist turned Alinskyite stealth socialist. Read Stanley Kurtz."""

I do think of getting his book. Maybe I will. Maybe my understanding of American Marxism is a little too "classic". I tend to think of it terms of... identifiable Marxist-Leninist concepts, like public ownership of means of production, historic primacy of the working classes, etc.

From this point of view most Western Marxists are rather vague and somewhat "proto". They do not want any bloody revolutions. They imagine themselves as being enlightened. All they desire is a fantastic amount of redistribution -- hopefully, short of killing the goose. Like Rand's moochers, they want to squeeze all they can out of the productive part of the population, and hope that the so called private sector will find a way to survive -- and to keep producing more and more. After all, that's why they're "capitalists".
