That is the problem. There are laws.

So companies like GE can avoid paying any taxes on their income and legitimately claim they are just following the laws. What they don't say is that they helped write those laws, if not had sole authorship. During Smirk's administration, many lobby firms bragged about how much legislation they were writing. And if you signed with them, they could do the same for you.

As we found out, they weren't lying or even exaggerating.
