The Boston Globe: "Investors grow wary of year 2000 firms."

boston.com

BOSTON CAPITAL
By Steve Bailey and Steven Syre, Globe Staff, 11/14/97

Quotes: ''Perhaps there's more attention being paid to whether these companies will still be able to grow after 2000 passes or if they are once-in-a-millennium wonders,'' said analyst Kevin C. Yen of Adams, Harkness & Hill in Boston. ''But it doesn't seem like they've been too discriminating.''
...
Yen and analyst Damian Rinaldi of First Albany Corp. note that many different types of companies get lumped into the year 2000 category, for better or worse. They rely on the work to varying degrees and do different things.
...
But there isn't going to be room for everyone, analysts agree. The youngest companies that are most dependent on year 2000 work will have a tough time in the new millennium, they said.
...
''They all have plans on paper right now to ramp up some services and
advertise themselves big time in the systems integration arena just before the year 2000,'' said Lou Marcoccio, research director for year 2000 at the Gartner Group, a research firm in Stamford, Conn.
...
''Are they going to be able to do that well enough? Well, that's going to be very hard,'' he said."

A sufficient number to choose among. --Shakespeare.
