When I install new drives, my system doesn't "see" them until I initialize them.

Open a Command Prompt window as Administrator.

Enter the command DiskMgmt.MSC

Scroll down to the new disk.

Right-Click the disk's icon (On the left) and select Initialize. A wizard will open and guide you. Format and assign a drive letter.
