Because spending is continuing to increase and will continue to increase. The same can't be said about taxes.

It's not JUST SPENDING...it is tax cuts too....look at the data to the left of the vertical line. Spending went up for the last decade and revenues dropped precipitously too...for those who believe that tax cuts generate revenue...you know who you are.
