Well, in that he is expected to be at least somewhere around Austin most of the year, yes. But it isn't like he has anything like responsibilities or real power.

He does have the bully pulpit and veto power. The latter can be useful, like when Smirk vetoed funding for air and water quality monitoring when some of his buds who owned refineries complained about pesky lawsuits.


Granted $100K is not a lot of money for a state as big as TX but dang! I would expect more from a governor than one who turns down fed monies periodically, threatens secession, and walks around trying to look good. Something tells me the people of TX got snookered.

No wonder Rs don't expect much from their gov't.
