BRUSH CREEK PURSUES MINEABLE PILLAR
GRASS VALLEY, CA (November 17, 1997) - Brush Creek Mining and Development Co., Inc. (NASDAQ: BCMD) today announced that it would be extracting ore from pillar #4 in its Lower Brush Creek mine withing two weeks. Stan Griffith, Mine Superintendent, stated, "we originally ran a single compartment raise as part of our effort to get to pillar #4 as quickly as possible. We verified the existence of the pillar and are now driving a three compartment raise with consists of a manway, timber slide and ore chute in order to mine the pillar."
James S. Chapin, CEO and Chairman of the Board, stated, "An assay taken from the hanging wall of the vein as we approached the pillar graded. 7 ounces per ton. We believe that this may be an encouraging sign since traditionally in the Alleghany-Downieville mining district gold is concentrated in the footwall. Once we are fully prepared to mine the pillar, we will drift over to the footwall which may be even higher grade."
Brush Creek is continuing its effort to conclude a joint-venture agreement on its gold properties.
