Value being found in Brazil - Several Ag companies are involved in this feeding frenzy to gobble up these operations. Takeovers in Brazil's ethanol industry reuters.com "...Mergers and acquisitions have transformed Brazil's once family-owned sugar and ethanol industry into a smaller number of big, professional and often international corporations since the 2008 credit crisis...." ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Companies on my watch list: "...* U.S. agricultural company Archer Daniels Midland (ADM.N) in April agreed to buy the remaining 51 percent stake in Brazil's Limeira do Oeste ethanol mill, making it the plant's sole owner..." "...* Noble Group (NOBG.SI), Asia's biggest commodities trader, in December paid $950 million for two Brazilian cane mills, expanding Singapore-listed company's two existing mills' crushing capacity by 84 percent..." "...* In December 2009, U.S. agricultural company Bunge Ltd (BG.N) agreed to pay $452 million in stock for Brazilian sugar and ethanol producer Moema...." BG is also building a new milling & processing plant in Vietnam expanding their Asia operations. ADM has invested in a new West Coast port operation to expand their reach into Asia and Far East. To a lesser extent, Agrium Inc. (AGU) sells fertilizer products through a 50% ownership wholesale distributor(s) arrangement. AGU is like a mini BG but w/ a fertilizer division. EKS
