When you image your drive, you are also imaging all the registry faults, and the other "corrupted files" that are in your computer. These are the "problems" that occur in a Windows systems from normal use. That's why there are programs around like CCleaner, Check Disk, defrag, etc.

So, restoring an image also installs the "problems" described above. The only way to get a "clean" drive is to wipe it clean and reinstall windows.
