Thia story is going to grow and grow {pardon the pun} until Weiner is done, all the while sucking oxygen out of thinner and thinner air in Washington. As I said, we need to be discussing serious survival issues for our country as we know it, not whether Weiner's "weiner" was overexposed. He has a psychological dysfunction. If he was 15, I would say he's just being a typical teenager.
In teenagers, the greatest changes to the parts of the brain are those responsible for impulse-control, judgement, decision-making, planning, organization, and emotion. This area of the brain (prefrontal cortex) does not reach full maturity until around age 25! How old is Weiner?????
Adult response to stimuli tends to be more intellectual, while teens’ is often more “from the gut.” While he may have gone a little lower, he certainly gave NO adult thought to what he was doing. So HOW can any objective constituent want to spend one more dime in paying a salary to someone who makes judgments like a teenager??
If he is using teenage judgment in other areas, what is he doing in Congress??
I don't deny that some others have skirted the resignation alternative, and even gone on to become national icons, but why give him the second chance? Are there no other ADULTS able and willing to fill his critical position in Congress? |
