The difference is huge - one is a voluntary choice you make to drive and the need of the state to protect those around you. You can stop driving and when you get old people often do, health insurance is cradle to grave like taxes.

Mandatory health insurance is just another form of a tax anyway.

Yes - but had they said that it never would have passed. In reality being forced to buy insurance if forced commerce which you cannot opt of is illegal under the constitution. While auto insurance is forced commerce you can opt out. Apparently if you give a lot of money to Obama's re-election or are a union you can opt out too.
