Our chief news officer Keith Olbermann sat down with The Hollywood Reporter and NPR's Fresh Air to discuss his much-anticipated return to television with Countdown on Current TV June 20.
Among the revelations, Keith said former MSNBC anchor David Shuster will serve as his primary substitute at the Countdown desk. Shuster was suspended last year from MSNBC after he had taped a pilot news program for rival CNN. Other Olbermann contributors include Rolling Stone's Matt Taibbi, Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas, comedian Richard Lewis, and filmmakers Michael Moore and Ken Burns.
Olbermann also goes into detail about his new staff, new office, and details about his tumultuous MSNBC departure.
From NPR: [Keith] tells Fresh Air's Terry Gross that his new show resembles his old show on MSNBC but "with some additional bells and whistles and a little bit more commentary." And, he says, he's looking forward to being at a network where he can say things he wasn't able to say before."
From The Hollywood Reporter: "It's been fascinating, to see the assumption that this is some sort of bizarre move for me," [Keith] says. "I have achieved what I wanted to achieve. I'm better off at some sort of independent place where they not only like what I produce but also trust me to be the one to produce it." |
