BTW, the yen is getting firmer against US$ and the bond prices are falling like rocket. I think, the index futures are simply moving in sympathy with the Hang Seng Index and Nikkei Index. My prediction is that all US Index futures will be down by the morning.

You may know that most bond traders are quite smart (maybe smarter thann stock traders). Many finance professors (some of them my friends) have walked into Wall Street to make money in the fixed income securities market. I got tenure and remained in academia, but I teach both "Options and Futures Markets" and "Fixed Income Securities in Today's Markets." The stock market will eventually look into the declining bond prices. But, a precipitous fall in US stock prices is still unlikely until the Japanese action is transparent.
