Not necessarily - we had a pull-back to below the 200 sma a year ago but it didn't turn into a full-blown bear market. Personally, I like the 144 ema and the cross-overs of it and the 200 sma can prove useful.

I have found that using a number of indicators works better than trying to rely on one and one alone.

Most of the indicators I use are very negative and if things don't recover very shortly we may be in for an early BK! And the markets seem oversold right now so we may see a bounce first before the negativity continues.

One indicator is at the point it was just before the 2008-2009 sell-off. If it gets any further negative, I will definitely call for a BK starting within the next month or so.
