You pretty much said that your problem with Weiner wasn't the sexting nor the emphatic denials and "attack the messenger" defense.
Your problem with Weiner was that he got caught. And he got caught because he was too stupid to realize how little privacy FB really offers.
Jesus, talking to you is like talking to a brick wall. So let me start at the beginning.
First of all, I think social media is BS AND dangerous....that includes twitter. I think its a huge mistake for people to be so open with their private lives on a medium that has the potential to reach millions of people. I regret telling people where I live on SI and the potential audience here is much, much smaller. Ask Dave the dangers of being open on this forum.
Secondly, Weiner is an elected congressman. WTF is he doing behaving like a private citizen on facebook and twitter? The height of stupidity.....I can't understand what he was thinking. After all, from all past evidence and performance, his IQ is up there. He is not a stupid man.
Thirdly, lets get to the part that so motivates the jesus freak Ten. Do I think its appropriate to sext on twitter? My general answer......yeah, if its between two consenting adults who agree to sexting. Do I think its appropriate for an elected official? Probably not even if its between consenting adults because mistakes can happen when using technology. For an example, my email frequently will automatically interpret the email address I am typing in but it doesn't always get it right. One day I was in a hurry and wasn't paying attention and I ending up sending a personal email to a business client. There are worse things in the world but that won't happen to me again.....I disconnected the feature. It seems Weiner made a mistake uploading his photo to twitter and apparently, wingers knew of his penchance for sexting so they were waiting to catch him. The rest his history..........
Finally, lets get to Weinger specifically. The latest photos I have seen suggest a man who suffers from a pathology. I am not a psychologist but his obsession with his physical form can't be healthy and I think it goes beyond narcissism. I suspect when it comes to sexuality, sex and physical appearance he has the maturity of a teenager. I think he needs to resign and get some serious help.
Now drop it Ten. I am sick of the subject. I wish wingers could be as honestly critical with the foibles of their elected officials as I have been with Weiner.
So let that be a lesson to every (D) out there. It's not what you do, but whether you get caught doing it. Right?
