The ring of truth is in Amos' humble reply, and terror in his closing condemnation. In the latter portion of chapter 8 (verses 4-14), he denounces the tyranny of the rich, and dilates upon the judgment. The ninth chapter continues this subject, but finally lets in a stream of kindly light. The Judgment is only for the sake of discipline (Amos 9:9). The nation will be restored to its pristine glory.
