I live on a creek here in Boone NC.. It flows from a lake in a National Park so the water is just great as it has no homes to infect it while it travels down the mountain. It is stocked with huge trout.... They thrive.

BUT interesting a neighbor who build right on the creek..
ran a pipe from his Thermal heating system ( dig deep and bring up the hot water and put it through pipes in the floor )
but it cools and has to have some place to go.)right into the creek. A fisher person fell over it....

HE got caught and had to dispose of his waste.. not good for fish.. by other means. I still have to visit him and see how he did it. BUT it's a great idea to use thermo energy.

From deep in the ground when one is in the woods solar is not great to utilize.
