I'm getting quail foraging under my feeders. They seem to get along with the squirrels quite well.

Those squirrels are hilarious. You can almost see the little wheels in their heads turning while they try to figure out how to get into the bird feeders.

I abandoned my shepherd's crook arrangement because it was duck soup for the squirrels. I went back to my original arrangement which is to suspend them from a line strung between two trees. I think the squirrels may have gnawed through the first line I used, which was just a braided fishing line.

Now I have a plastic line that came from some packaging and it seems to work well. I have it tied in such a way that I can raise and lower it easily to refill. The squirrels haven't breached it yet.

If anybody wants me to, I'll post a picture of how I do it.
