irby: Thanks for your suggestions so rapidly returned; I respect everything you have to say and also respect the axiom that there is no free lunch! I've learned a lot from reading your posts and I'm sure will learn much more. However, I'm not sure how many hours of my day I can devote to daytrading since I have other life priorities.

I would welcome skillful suggestions which could serve towards my financial success with the least expenditure of time, since that is the most precious commodity I have. Given some of Steve Goldman's earlier posts tonight, I'm still concerned to learn anything more you or others might know about the basics of successful money management, since that appears to be an essential key to success in the highly charged environment of daytrading and short term trading generally.

I'm equally concerned with the issue of timely order execution; it seems that Steve G. and others recommend calling trades in to a broker who will "work" for you to maximize your return. Do you ever so this anymore, and, if so, under what circumstances? What broker(s)/brokerage(s) would you recommend? Or do you invariably execute all your orders online at this point? Many thanks.

the patient novice
