--Voice Pager
ÿÿÿÿL&H demonstrated for the first time at its Comdex '97 press conference an early prototype of its Voice Pager application, which uses L&H's unique low bit-rate voice compression technology to replay voice messages on a tiny wireless pager terminal. The Voice Pager can accept, store and replay as many as 30 voice messages of up to 20 seconds each that have been transmitted via an ordinary telephone. The Voice Pager is being jointly developed by Oi Electric Co. of Japan (a company owned 35 percent by Mitsubishi) and NDC Voice Corp., a joint venture between L&H and National Dispatch Center.
