Well, whatever it is. 8kW-16. Most small houses will draw 16kW during parts of a day.

Doubtful, but even if it did, it doesn't mean that you need a peak draw equivalent unit to run your house...the typical solar power installation is in the 4-5kW range, which today can be had for $2.5/W...four years ago that same system cost $10/W...that's HUGE...the price curve is headed fast towards $1/W...at that price its cost is less than your 3tonne heat pump...it'll be on the otherwise wasted real estate roof of your house without any disruption to the environment WHATSOEVER...thanks to early adopters...you know, that wellsring of vision from the left whose ideas improve your life.

In any case, that system will have a very different ROI depending on geography and state you live in...your views are much too closed (partisan?) and simplistic...

The point is, just addressing the minimal power requirements of households, excluding that of heavy industry, the use of solar comes with substantial ecological downside.

Now that's nonsense and you know it.
