Yes, in the past it was correct to analyse the global economy.
After all there was only Europe Japan and the US.

Today the global economy is huge, many disparate actors to be able to discern whose political/economic climate?
The US?
Europe?
China?
Latam?
India?
Japan?

In many cases the negative in a certain area is balanced by the positive elsewhere.

A condition that IS now, is changing so fast that by the time you analyse under the perspective, facts have changed and you would be chasing the next one.
