Interesting feature on the Future of IT from Gartner Group/ Forbes:

forbes.com

Note the "hype cycle of emerging technologies" in the inroduction section.

>>The hype cycle of emerging technologies characterizes the typical progression of a technology from overenthusiasm through a period of disillusionment (due to the inevitable failures that arise from inappropriate application) to an eventual understanding of the technology's relevance and role. <<

I think the "relevance" for Ancor is now. It feels like the "role" for Ancor investors will be 98. Marketplace momentum regarding FC introductions is clear, while Ancor's place is still TBD. In the alliterative words of Lee Lewis last spring "fibre channel is fundable". It is more "fundable" now. Expectations having been re-set to zero, all future good news should be perceived as an upside surprise. The product development-product introduction cycle favors Ancor at the present time.

Venture Capital, and Investment Banker interest in the Sector is a positive indicator. I understand that Morgan Keegan is talking about holding a Fibre Channel investment conference in February and has talked to Ancor about participating. Future IPO's of FC related companies will increase the awareness and give the market a new investment dynamic to focus on. Just my take.

Regards,
Neil
