Figures are like 0.7 kW-h energy required to produce a 1 kWh battery. The Volt has a 16 kWh battery. 16 kWh is for ONE charge cycle. A battery like that would last for 1000's of charges (say 2000) over a 10 year lifecycle. So, doing the math: 0.716 kwH/2000 100 = 0.6% More accurately, the Volt would have 0.6% increase in emissions due to energy required to manufacture Li Batteries. Factories could use green energy sources and reduce this figure even lower. > electric vehicle market share may only be 5% or less by 2020 We'll see abou this. If the oil lobby gets their way, this may be a fact.
