Piere I have to strongly disagree with you. It is normally quite easy to sift the quality, value investments from the speculative ones. for instance in my case I always do a quick scan of the fundamentals current PE less than the average, total debt, fair value of the stock, and set a target, if the stock passes these elementary tests I investigate further. The total process for investingating a stock only takes several minutes.

In the case of the two stocks I am losing money on WDC and APM they both passed everything and by my calculations were a fantastic buy at the time. Their short time price decline had nothing to do with the fundamentals but were liked to outside economic issues.

As far as the big picture I have always subcribed to valuline investment service and they give an excellent overview of each sector and the market as a whole. I think that small investors with access to the internet have the same chance for success as the professionals.
