CS Take on MLPs: The turmoil in Greece and concerns over a broader
worldwide economic slowdown is negatively impacting investor demand for
equities in general. Given lower investor risk appetite as indicated by the
movement in the 10 year treasury to a yield below 3.0%, the MLP yield
relative to the ten-year treasury has widened to 352 bps. The average MLP
yield has moved back up to 6.5% from as low as 5.9% back in April. We
believe that MLPs provide attractive long term value and would accumulate
positions in our Outperform rated stocks such as EPD, DPM and NGLS.
These MLPs should be able to raise distributions based on their ongoing
infrastructure investments around burgeoning shale plays such as the Eagle
Ford and Permian Basin.
