Reg, don't play word games with me. I'm using "PC" as a specific term to describe the x86 platform. Don't change that to the generic version to make your point.

Anyway, to be more exact: It is virtually impossible to buy an x86-based ("PC") system without a Microsoft OS shipping with it. So in that respect, the consumer does not have a choice.

Of course, there is Solaris for x86, or OS/2, or Be, or Linux, or whatever. But my point is that it's next to impossible buy an x86 system with anything except Windows3.x/95/NT.

PS. Oh wait, it may still be possible to get a system from IBM that has OS/2 preinstalled.
