<price targets for buying in during the next downturn?>
Since I think we are still in a secular bear market, and the structural causes of the last recession haven't been fixed, there is a possibility (no certainty) we take out the 2008-9 lows, on the indexes and most stocks.
But it's way too early to set specific price targets on specific stocks. I haven't even decided whether the current dip is a correction in the cyclic bull, or the start of a cyclic bear. I also tend to start buying too early; it's hard to avoid that, when quality stocks start hitting multi-year lows.
The lowest stock prices, will happen in hi-beta stocks, where a cyclic downturn in that industry, coincides with a general economic downturn. We could easily see that happen, in solar or LED equip. At every multi-year trough, stock prices are absurdly low, but most of us have no cash left, or are too scared to buy. I'm going to try to avoid that happening to me, by having a plan and sticking to it. Right now, I've got a plan, I'm working on the Buy Lists, and I'll do the rest later. |
