If they wanted to punish the speculators they could have simply gone in there and short the crap out of the market (or threaten to). The Fed's moving around the other markets. Would have been a lot simpler than to move around 30MM barrels of oil. This action has another purpose. This gives a pretty good review of all the possible reasons. zerohedge.com
