Luis, re: over-the-counter status: I don't know what the FDA criteria are for an over the counter drug. But I do know from reading the literature that N-docosanol has been considered safe and non-toxic for many years. And of course it will be only a topical drug. Therefore I think Lidakol would be a good candidate for over the counter status. However, I also think that it would sell better in the long run by starting as a prescription remedy. That will legitimize it as a "real" drug which really works and distinguish it from all kinds of other ointments which don't work.
