6/24/11 Contest Update
Was the racket on Wall Street coming from a big fat Greek wedding or wake? Most investors couldn’t make up their mind, but the week did see quite a few of the Contest portfolio biotechs bearing gifts. Hopefully, these gifts did not carry a Greek curse.
At Friday’s close, the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 10.64% YTD (vs. up 8.93% YTD a week ago) and the Contest median was up 10.43% YTD (vs. up 4.64% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index wound up essentially even at +0.0008% YTD (vs. down -1.37% YTD a week ago).
MCBIO’s portfolio (up 43.63% YTD) had a good week and remained in first place. But boosted by ARIA, No. 2, CRAZYP’s portfolio (up 42.49% YTD) and No. 3, ROCKY’s portfolio (up 40.35% YTD) are both now within striking distance.
At Friday's close, 32 of the 38 Contest portfolios were in the black, with ARIA’s jump putting 18 of the 38 ahead of the NBI.
