The making of a standard will require that the major players
( MCI etc.) be counted in, they won't allow a standard unless they are.

Just getting the major players to play is to Iomega's credit and speaks volumes about their product and management.

The mission as I see it is first, to make a standard and then to make money on the " standard ", to sow the seeds and reap the harvest .

Many other companys such as:
Apple - kept it all for themselves and look what happened.
Lotus - You had to be certified in order to sell their overpriced goods.
( can you fathom that in order to put money in their pockets
they had to approve you.)
These companys thought they had a lock on technology and
acted like it.

I hope Iomega gets all of these big players to make zips and is able to sell them all disks.
Looks to me like their plan is working, with some intense hard work
in the next six months, manufacturers making product , oem's comming on line, the commanding lead will grant a "standard" .

The competition has no doubt seen this and is feverishly working on
bringing their product to market.

GO IOMEGA !!
