I am a liberal for one reason only. They care about the weak and criplled, the young and old and are willing to help them.

And this is where you don't understand conservatives. Conservatives tend to give more to charities. Conservatives care about the weak and crippled and do much to help them. They simply don't want to be forced to do so. Nor do we want to enable those who are lazy or to punish those who simply want to work hard to make a better life for themselves.

The real difference between liberals and conservatives is not that one or the other doesn't care about other people, it's that liberals think that it is ok to force charity and conservatives don't.

Charity is more than writing a check. Or in the case of the liberal mindset, having it deducted from your paycheck. It is more than just giving some cash because you feel guilty because your life is better than somebody else's. Real charity is about caring. And that can't be mandated by congress.
