<<Here it is again:
a question: If the tribe decided that you are under utilizing your home and the tribe decides that two other families who don't have homes should live in your home with you, would you willingly accept the tribe's edict and let those two families live in your home without protest?>>

Yes!

This is a democracy and that is what the social contract is all about.

You are not asking the right quesiton or seeing hte big picture. How do 300 million people organize themselves that is fair to everyone better than a democracy?

And in a democracy the majority rule! It is a shitty system, except for all others.

Socrates allowed himself to be killed unfairly rather than break the social contract.

Get it?

I appreciate your honesty. I think.... However, it is misguided. The United States is not a democracy. Our form of government is called a "Constitutional Republic". Now you may think that a democracy is a better form of government than a constitutional republic, and if so, perhaps you should seek to change the constitution through amendments to make it such. But it is important to understand that our form of government was specifically designed to avoid the type of abuses that can happen under a true democracy (the term would be "tyranny of the masses"). And we are seeing an increasing amount of tyranny of the masses now that it is commonplace for the "have-nots" to vote themselves another chunk of what the "haves" have.

If you think about it, this is why we have Republicans and Democrats. Republicans are going to lean more toward the idea that a constitutional republic is the proper form of government. Democrats like the idea of majority rule (as long as they are in the majority).

It's pretty important since you and many others have the misguided opinion that our form of government is a democracy.

As for my specific question...well, though it isn't a direct analog, there is an amendment to the constitution that goes to the sanctity of the home. No, it isn't the 4th amendment that protects against searches and seizures, it is the 3rd amendment.

Third Amendment – Protection from quartering of troops.
No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

anyway.....constitutional republic....study up.
