Inattention due to boredom and a total lack of need to concentrate 99.99% of the time is the main cause of accidents. If people had to talk on cellphones, they would wake up and keep their eyes on the road ahead as they would not have spare attention to drift their gaze off the road, nod off and generally get totally bored. The need to stay alert to talk would give halo attention to driving. The few people who can't talk and drive and chew gum at the same time should be banned from driving. They should legally have to have autodrive cars. Crash investigators have been puzzled as to why the safety measures they introduce such as bans on cellphones, slower speed limits and the like do not reduce death rates. It's because inattention increases even more, causing more deaths than does misjudgment at normal sensible faster speeds. Mqurice
