Everything you state is due to the benefit of 20/20 hindsight.

The woman made an allegation of rape and the police were required to act upon it and file charges, and to conduct an investigation.

Personally speaking, if what I'm hearing is correct, the manner in which she lied under oath in her statement should result in her arrest (not even mentioning the other crimes she may be involved in). She should also be required to make a public apology to DSK for such an allegation of rape.

I personally am now convinced that it was a consensual encounter, likely in exchange for a sum of money for services rendered. But at the time of the event, the lies told by both the woman and DSK certainly necessitated that he be prevented from fleeing the country.

Again.. had he just admitted to a consensual encounter between consenting adults, the most he could have been legitimately accused of would be adultery. But he denied that anything had occurred.. He denied everything at first..

I agree that there were also problems with the initial story she told. I was curious why she was cleaning rooms by herself and stated as such when the event occurred.

As far as I'm concerned, they both obstructed a criminal investigation and should be penalized for their behavior and the cost to the taxpayers..
